Hello, my name is James Ackley and I’m the Audio Director here at ArenaNet. I thought I’d share with you a fun field trip the ArenaNet audio department took recently to the inactive Satsop Nuclear Power Plant to record audio for Guild Wars 2.

The five members of our team met at 5 a.m. to make the 2+ hour drive down to Satsop, Washington, an area about 30 miles west of the state capital Olympia. We arranged to spend the entire day recording sounds at the Satsop Business Park, the site of a nuclear power plant that was never completed. A more detailed description of the trip follows, but for those who are visually-oriented we put together a video chronicling our trip to Satsop:
